Mac Mini 2018 WIFI disconnects due to USB port.
Mac Mini 2018 is a great machine. Without WIFI, it is a dead brick.
It has been more than a year since I bought my precious Mac Mini 2018. Everything was perfect, SSD was fast, HDMI worked in 4K, WIFI was stable and MacOS was great, IMO.
Being an IT enthusiasm, I am not satisfied with the basic configuration. I bought a 512G SSD, USB sound card (for mic) and USBC-HDMI connector for 2nd screen.
Everything connected well, but something bad happened. It was WIFI. The signal was really bad/unstable, and disconnected mysteriously. I tried Ferrite Ring as suggested by google, but it doesn't work. Having an extra wifi extender is not what I want either. Very upset at that time.
Later, I noticed whenever I disconnect my USB drive, wifi works fine.
Whenever an USB drive is plugged, the symptom came back. After spending some time, trial and error, I believe I found a solution, albeit not a perfect one.
The solution is DO NOT plug anything to the rightmost USB port, if you are looking from rear.
Finally, I am able to surf youtube with WIFI, and not via a WIFI extender!
